The DIY Bride

Andrea (Schumann) Reid is our D-I-Y LUXE Bride! After attending the 2011 LUXE event she sought the assistance of Catherine Gretta to help her execute a 16th-century royal wedding, reminiscent of the English and Italian Renaissance periods under the reign of the Tudor dynasty. As a creative marketing professional for over seven years, Andrea took the DIY approach to planning her period wedding, but welcomed Catherine's additional services during the "crunch time" leading to the wedding day. Some elements from her wedding included fanfare trumpeters dressed in Renaissance regalia, a professional lute player providing the cocktail hour music, a 20-piece choral ensemble performing traditional Catholic hymns during the ceremony, a gilded cake inspired by the Gothic architecture of European churches and palaces, and tablescapes designed with platters of orchard fruits, olives, breads, candlesticks and old books to create an ambiance of a royal feasting hall. In addition to her groom for indulging her in her fantasy wedding, Andrea is thankful to her LUXE Dream Team of Catherine Gretta, Jan Bubbenmoyer, and Steve Mittman for creating a royally-beautiful day!
